一、专业介绍
Description of Major
英语专业自1994年开始招收本科生以来，培养了大量的英语人才。本专业现拥有一支由中国教师和美国、英国、澳大利亚等国专家组成的年龄结构合理、研究方向多样、教学经验丰富、学术功底扎实的师资队伍。在人才培养过程中，英语专业坚持以学生为中心，贯彻“精外语，懂科技，善思辨，知国际、能创新”的培养理念。课程设置在注重培养学生英语基本功的同时，拓宽学生知识面，强化创新意识，培养学生批判性思维和科学研究能力。建立了“3+3”国际化外语教学体系，多层次模块化显性课程与个性化第二课堂实践相结合的课程体系，同时也设置了涉及语言学、英美文学、（跨）文化翻译方向的方向课程和系列选修课程，供学生选学。专业还开设了第二外语课程，学生可根据自己的兴趣和能力，选修一门或多门外语；也可跨专业选修课程或攻读辅修专业/双学位。本科生中优秀者有机会在毕业时免试攻读硕士学位。英语专业与美国、英国、瑞典、比利时等国多所大学建立了长期稳定的合作关系，本科阶段选派优秀学生前往对方学校进行交流访学。
The English Department has been offering instruction for the award of the degrees of B. A. since 1994. The current teaching staff consists of experienced experts from China, the United States, England and Australia. One major responsibility of the department is to nurture the talents of the students according to the learner-centered principle. It offers a variety of interdisciplinary courses, which aim to equip students with a good command of English, a broad range of knowledge and abilities to learn, think and read critically. The four-year B.A. program is composed of compulsory and elective components. Students can also study a minor subject alongside the main programme, if the major courses are eligible. B.A. students with excellent academic performance are given opportunists for a postgraduate recommendation. The department has also established relations with many internationally renowned universities worldwide, through which it has developed exchange programs for English major undergraduates.
二、培养目标
Objectives
为适应全球化人才培养的需求，本专业以《普通高等学校本科外国语言文学类专业教学指南》为指导思想，培养具有扎实的英语语言基本功、厚实的英语知识和必要的相关专业知识、较高的文化素养、开阔的国际视野及勇于开拓的创新精神，能适应国家经济与地方建设和社会发展需要，熟练运用英语和本族语从事外事、教育、经贸、文化、科技、军事等相关工作的英语精英人才。
In order to satisfy the requirements put forward by the globalization and fast economical development, our program is planned to cultivate applied talents served to economic and social development. Students will be equipped with full competence in the English language, a wide range of knowledge as well as a global outlook at the time of their graduation. Additionally, our undergraduates also have a specialized training in humanities, in independent research capabilities, which will considerably enable them to be competent or become elites in future careers including foreign affairs, education, international trade, culture, science, engineering and military operation.
三、培养要求
Requirements
本专业学生在接受系统、科学的英语听、说、读、写、译等技能训练的同时，可根据自己的兴趣有计划地学习英语语言学、文学、文化、哲学、科技、贸易等相关学科的专业课程及一门第二外语，积极参加阅读实践、英文戏剧创作与表演、英文演讲与辩论等语言实践活动，全面培养自己的专业素养，提高思辨、组织和与他人沟通合作的能力，掌握运用专业知识发现、分析、解决问题的综合能力、创造性思维能力和科学研究能力。
本专业毕业生应获得以下几方面的知识和能力：
1．具有扎实的英语语言基本功，掌握英语语言学和文学方面的基本知识；
2．具有熟练运用英语，与海外人士进行口头与书面交流及跨文化交际的能力；
3．熟练使用计算机和网络技术不断获取知识的能力及第二外语的应用能力；
4. 掌握运用英语和本族语的专业知识发现、分析、解决问题的能力，以及创造性思维和科学研究能力。
Students of this program are expected to have a good command of English language and culture. They should be well equipped with the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. They are also required to actively participate in various kinds of practical training. For the purpose of future development, the students will also learn the knowledge concerned with up-to-date science and technology, business and a second foreign language. Through this program, the graduates are expected to：
1．acquire professional knowledge in English language and culture, arts and social science,
2．develop proficient skills in English and cross-cultural communication,
3. demonstrate good ability of using computers and have a good command of a second language,
4．improve analytical and problem-solving skills.
